5-Ingredient Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats

Dog treats can be expensive and have a lot of ingredients in them that may not be healthy for your pup! That is why I often make my dog easy homemade dog treats. She loves them, and you can make large batches that last for weeks. A couple of her favorite treats to have are peanut butter and bananas, so I recently decided to develop a recipe containing both of those ingredients. They are also human-friendly if you would like to taste test them (they actually taste pretty good!)

Make sure to use ripe bananas in this recipe so the cookies are as sweet as possible and are easier for your pup to digest. Also make sure to use all natural peanut butter to avoid giving your pup any harmful additives that are in some peanut butter brands. This recipe calls for oat flour which you can buy at the store, but can also easily be made at home by simply blending up oats in the blender until they reach a flour-like consistency.

Ingredients:

  • 2 super ripe medium bananas

  • 1/2 cup all natural creamy peanut butter

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 2/3 cups oat flour + more for rolling out the dough

  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Pull out two large even pieces of parchment paper and set aside.

  2. In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir in the peanut butter and honey.

  3. If you are using oats, blend them in a blender until they reach a flour-like consistency. Stir the oat flour and salt into the wet ingredients. You may have to use your hands here to get it fully combined.

  4. Lay one piece of parchment paper on a flat surface. Sprinkle it with extra oat flour and place the dough in the center. In between the two pieces of parchment paper flatten the dough into a circle and roll it out with a rolling pin to about 1/4 inch thick.

  5. Use a cookie cutter of your choice (or circular cup!) to cut out treat sized cookies and place them on the baking sheet. If there is extra dough leftover, repeat the process with the leftover dough.

  6. Bake in the 350 degree F oven for about 9 to 11 minutes or until the cookies are golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before taste testing or giving to your pup. I hope they enjoy!
